1. Reduce Your Bet To 1p!
First you need to reduce your bet amount to 1p. The bet amount is usually displayed on the bottom left of the screen and often defaults to 20p, so knock it right down to 1p and you won't burn all your cash in the first spin!
2. Set The Number of Win Lines
Next you'll have to set the number of win lines. Again, if you're a slots newbie then the concept of win lines can be rather confusing so I'll try to explain them as best I can. If you think back to the classic one-armed bandits in your local amusement arcade then you'll remember that you have to land three matching symbols across the line in the middle to win a prize. Well, that's a win line. But the same bandits only had 3 reels and 3 symbols per reel right? Well things have changed quite a bit since then. Online slots nowadays typically have 5 reels and up to 5 symbols per reel, oh, and up to 50 win lines! No that's not a typo - I did say FIFTY! It would be near impossible to keep track of 50 win lines yourself, so fortunately the slot games automatically alert you when you have a winning line. See the zig-zag lines plastered all over that slot game above? Yep, they're all the possible win lines in a 50-line slot game, and will light up whenever you get a win.
So, why set the number of win lines? Well the bet you set in step 1 applies to one win line only, so if you were to set the number of win lines to 50 then it would cost you 50p rather than 1p. So reduce the number of win lines right down to 1 and you won't have a shock when you press the spin button!
3. Set The Line Bet
You might think you've already done this in step 1, but strictly speak that wasn't really setting your bet. The first step was basically setting your denominator, so big spenders will probably set this to £1 or more so their line bets increase or decrease in increments of £1. As we've set our bet denominator to 1p then it allows us to increase or decrease our line bets in increments of 1p. So set this to 1p and we're all set to go!

Once you've set your bets to 1p, you're ready to spin. So go for it, get those fingers crossed and hit that big SPIN button!
